Justice for Paws Everywhere
Compassionate Advocacy For All Animals
Paws over Politics is a non-profit animal rights organization dedicated to being a relentless voice for the voiceless. Our mission is crystal clear: to drive meaningful change and demand accountability for those who harm, neglect, or kill animals anywhere in the United States. We are not just a cause. We are a movement for justice!
At Paws over Politics, we campaign for stronger legal protections and harsher penalties against animal cruelty. Our team works tirelessly to bring awareness to the gaps in the legal system and mobilize support for real reform. We successfully championed #RebasLaw AB381 in Nevada ro enhance penalties for animal abuse. We are currently working with Washington D.C. to enhance animal cruelty laws on a federal level and are fighting hard to get a national animal abuse registry launched, much like the sex offender registy.
If you’re ready to join a community that refuses to stay silent, we welcome your support. Whether you’re a fellow advocate, a volunteer, or someone simply fed up with the status quo, let’s make our voices heard—together.

Types of Animal Cruelty
There are three main types of animal cruelty
-
Neglect is the most common type of animal cruelty. This is when an owner doesn’t provide necessary shelter, food, water and veterinary care for the animal or pet. The most visible sign of neglect is keeping an animal in a cage or having them tethered to a stationary object that restricts its movement for most hours of the day or full-time.
-
Hoarding is a severe type of neglect and cruelty. This occurs when an owner hoards many animals, creating overcrowded and unsanitary conditions. Hoarding leads to unsafe shelter and health conditions for the pet. It can lead to sickness, injury, starvation and death.
-
Physical abuse is an intentional act that causes pain, suffering or death. Physical abuse can take many forms, including dragging, kicking, choking, burning, suffocating, mutilating, beating, stabbing and throwing. Sexual abuse can also occur, which includes lacerations, ligature, injury or severe distress to the animal’s genitals.

Rooted in Nevada: Powered by the Community
Founded in Nevada, Paws over Politics is deeply tied to the local community, however we have branched out to protect every animal from coast to coast. We are fueled by passionate volunteers, donors, and supporters who refuse to accept cruelty as the norm. Together, we’re building a safer future for every animal in the United States.

A Movement Born from Tragedy: Reba’s Legacy
Â
Our work was ignited by the tragic death of Reba, a bulldog left to die in a sealed container during a Las Vegas summer. Her story galvanized a movement, giving a face and a name to the consequences of weak animal protection laws—and creating momentum that continues to grow.

Legislative Advocacy That Holds Lawmakers Accountable
Paws over Politics goes beyond awareness—we actively challenge lawmakers who fail to protect animals. We regularly launch efforts to unseat officials who block progress, proving our commitment to real political change for animal rights.
